Introduction

The Vietnamese Parent Teacher Association (VPTA) is a non-profit organization founded in 1988 by a group of local Vietnamese community members residing in Sacramento, California. It is also referred as Lac Hong (LH). The focus is to preserve and promote the Vietnamese language and culture in America. VPTA has been directly operated by volunteers living in Sacramento and surrounding area.

Mission

Our mission is to teach the Vietnamese language to younger generations of Vietnamese and to non-Vietnamese speakers who have an interest in learning the Vietnamese language and culture.

Goals

  • To teach students to read, write, and speak Vietnamese language

  • To help Vietnamese-American students maintain the Vietnamese language and appreciate the Vietnamese culture

  • To help students to know about Vietnamese history, geography, and people

  • To encourage our students to learn Vietnamese by having competition in writing essays and poems, and in drawing about Vietnamese culture

  • To encourage our students to sing Vietnamese songs at our fundraising parties and at the community events throughout the year

All courses at our center begin in September and end in June of each academic year. For all information about how to register or any questions about our center, please contact us at
